OMG! I simply MUST get this book! I have felt that I was one of the returnees for the longest time. I was born in 1948. Non-Jewish but always felt Jewish. Had some weird fantasy of being in the Nazis but was working against them. I was caught and ended up in a camp and I thought if I went to the gas chamber in my Nazi uniform, it would be very odd. Also, in my current life, when I had to get a cystostomy, I was TERRIFIED. Then I read A Spy for God by Kurt Gerstein and he described having the same exact fantasy about the gas chambers when he was in the Nazis but working against them. When he was a medical student, he botched a cystostomy and the patient died, so he was thrown out of the school. I have always been fascinated with medicine and with the Holocaust. There were a lot of other weird synchronistic connections between me and Gerstein. I have felt for a long time that I WAS Gerstein. When someone regressed me, it came out that I was in Auschwitz. I think that might have been the camp Gerstein was in.
