I found it fascinating that artists, poets, songwriters, and other creatives have a need for being understood even more than most people. I always thought I was weird until I started reading Peter Himmelman's essays. They were so spot on! Feed Your Head is a great place to find vital content. Thank you, Rabbi Adams, for setting it up. Because of you I'm on Substack and loving it. <3
AMEN. We all want to be our authentic selves and we all crave love and acceptance. That is what it means to be human. These two desires are often at loggerheads with one another. That urge to expose who we truly are can be scary. Peter Himmelman summed this up perfectly: "if I’ve written what I passionately feel, my whole being will be on the line! "
