While I second the motion that the Ego needs to be harnessed, the truth is that we arrive at this later in life, and it is good that we do because without the ego, when we’re younger, we would lack the ambition to do things.

There’s also the problem that comes with the absence of ego. We see it when young people lack any belief in the future. It leads to depression.

The humility and modesty in gratitude that we achieve when we’re older, if mastered when you’re young, can lead to sense of futility, which is not how the world is meant to operate.
