You are so perceptive! A general openness to the world around us is most helpful to enhancing our understanding of it. One does not necessarily need drugs to do this. I imagine that drugs may be useful to some people, but drugs may be harmful to others. I choose the nondrug path because I don't want to lose control of my faculties, but I retain a childlike wonder when seeing how beautiful existence is.
