I've always maintained that things are NOT either–or but rather BOTH. It's a paradox but it's true. That does indeed translate to the body and mind. The soul already knows this.

I love that this supports Jung's idea of individuation and wholeness where our task is to integrate our shadow and that maturity has much to do with our capacity to "hold the tension of the opposites" --and that when we're able to do this a third thing emerges. In midlife, we're often invited to discover and integrate our "traits that have been held in reserve" by the anima in men and the animus in women. It's uncomfortable work because these traits seem so foreign and opposite to how we've moved through life up to this point, so "not me" and yet we contain all of it and focusing here will greatly expand our capacity and agency (also Life is likely to torture us until we embrace this work.) It just amazes me when ancient wisdom and new technology converge to confirm how life works! Thanks for sharing your experience and these ideas around "spiritual and emotional growth lives somewhere in the movement between polarities"--great piece!
