The scientific method is one of the most remarkably accurate tools for comprehending our reality. But when it comes to using it for origin of life, some scientists jump ship.
I was once a firm believer in evolution as I was taught. My dad pushed it. Didn’t want there to be a creator.
I married a full blood Tlingit Indian from Alaska. We were very involved in In American Indian Justices issues. 36 years ago I had to face the enormity of what we as a nation did to get the Land. The Essence. A deep GUT knowing. One thing that took place for me was then pondering science application. Which led to Who pays for the research. To get the answers they want.
I’ve watched, listened, read and pondered all this. On Evolution and science application. For many years now. I just turned 80.
The silence of the Origin of Life group is so loud! Statements like this for the general public to hear are troubling. “Somehow. Against all odds. Given enough time!” Once I heard somehow against all odds said together. I had to laugh. Seems the public is more interested in football then having a healthy planet and society.
Its easy to see the power of unchecked science application has done and is still doing to the Planet. I don’t need to say the obvious. Who really controls our world.
I sense that the Indigenous Peoples we thought were backward and primitive may have a simple way to bridge the chasm between these two. An intelligent creator or chance
The Great Mystery. Either side can be comfort with this name. For God. or Chance.
I’ve lived with this question for 36 years now. What kept us from listening to Indigenous Wisdom? Their practical way of living with earth. Only now are we being forced to realize we should have listened a long time ago.
This is the first time I have ever read your articles, and I read this one because nearly 30years ago, I was present at my father's hospital bedside when a nurse gave him a morphium injection, which turned him, in front of my eyes, from a live person into a dead person. I felt as if I had witnessed an act that I should not have done. This took place in the UK. The nurse in question didn't seem too bothered.
The issue goes much deeper--why should anything exist at all? If things are indeed random, it is just as likely that there would be life as not. Maybe panspermia is responsible for life on earth. Maybe it's just the way atoms and molecules behave. And maybe it's G-d. Maybe it's all of these things. I say, let's make the most of this gift.

Thank you, Helen, for reading and for sharing.
