Here's a built in method. Let me know if it works...

How to View or Get the Transcript as a User

Here's the current process (as of 2026):

Open the YouTube video in a web browser (desktop is easiest; mobile support can vary).

Scroll down to the video description and click "Show more" (or "... more") if it's collapsed.

Scroll further down in the description until you see the "Show transcript" button (it may be near the bottom).

Click "Show transcript". A panel opens on the right side of the video with the full timed transcript.

As the video plays, the transcript auto-scrolls. Click any line to jump to that timestamp.

To copy the text: In the transcript panel, click the three-dot menu (⋯) and select options like "Toggle timestamps" or copy the text directly (some users report needing to select and copy manually).

On mobile apps, the process is similar but may require tapping the description and looking for "Transcript" or using the subtitles/CC button first.Note: Not every video shows this option—if captions aren't available, "Show transcript" won't appear.
