How about we first forget the great burden foisted on us by the Abrahamic religions that we die and that is the end of our Earth life, or in olden days Judaism, that is the end, period. For the more attached of us, reincarnation is a great comfort. We will see out loved ones again! For the more spiritually inclined, the knowledge that we are part of a billions of years long journey, the evolution of consciousness, gives us power and forever takes the sadness from death. I can't see why a spiritual blog should pay attention to the sugar coating of Hanna Arendt when the great sages of India and China have given us so much more. And by the way, while we are mentioning the ancient Greeks, Pythagoris, Plato and Plotinus, among others, also taught reincarnation and transmigration of the soul.

Hi, thanks for your comment! I agree that there is a great deal to take from the sages of India and China (Lao-Tzu in particular is one of my favourite thinkers). I don't think it's an either/or, though - there are aspects of Arendt's work that are of immense value too, and compatible with certain strands of Buddhist/Taoist thought.
