Just a thought, but I've found that the sublime can reside in the smallest of things as well. It's just a matter of a perspective shift: 'this is just a grain of sand, but a grain of sand among many, on a beach which is one of many in a country, which is one of many etc etc'... For me it's about context.
I totally agree. When I went to London, England, we met with some of my husband's relatives. Our group walked around (I rolled in a wheelchair) and we came to the Parliament buildings. The sun gave the yellow stones a golden cast, making the complex glow as if lit from within. I felt a great silence, as if history were beckoning me. Awestruck, I could only utter: "So, this is where it all began. . . ." No one asked me to clarify that cryptic comment, and I could not fathom what caused me to say that. Maybe it was about how the U.S. imitated the Magna Charta or some other form of British law. All I know is that I felt a mystical union between myself and those golden buildings. That was sublime.

That's a great observation - the small leading to the huge! Thanks for sharing 🙏

Thank you for this beautiful comment, Billie. And I'm so happy that my capital city had that effect on you!
You are most welcome. I didn't know you were from England. I've been twice and I loved it both times.
I don’t think so 💁🏻♀️
